Recording, speech transcription, bird recognition and voice analysis all run right on the phone. Audio and texts stay on the device: no analytics, no ads, no trackers.
What's new in version 1.1.96
- Merging recordings Select two or more recordings and tap "Merge": you get one combined recording, and the order of the parts can be changed with the arrows. The transcript and bookmarks move along with the audio, and a bookmark is placed at every joint.
- A long transcription keeps what is done If you stop the transcription or it breaks off on its own, the finished part is kept, and "Continue transcription" picks up from the same place.
- The "Text" tab opens faster Cards with long transcripts no longer slow the phone down: the preview shows only the beginning of the text.
What the app can do
You need internet once, to download the recognition model. After that you only need it if you turn on cloud backups.
Recording in one tap
Clean 44.1 kHz recording (m4a/AAC), a live level meter and a speech indicator. It records in the background even with the screen off. You switch between the "Speech" and "Nature" modes on the home screen.
Speech transcribed to text
Russian speech is recognized offline. The text is clickable: tap a word and the audio jumps to that point. Search across all transcripts at once.
Two models to choose from: a light one (74 MB) for weaker phones and a large, accurate one for phones with 3 GB of RAM or more. They also work on old 32-bit devices: from version 1.0.279 transcription is available everywhere.
Checking and your own dictionary
Uncertain words are highlighted: replace one with a single tap, fix the phrase in the full-screen editor or play that fragment back. Add names and terms to the dictionary and the app will stop treating them as mistakes.
Voice and speech clarity analysis
A "voice passport": color, note, profile - and the recording card in the list is tinted with that same color. A report on filler words, repetitions and pace shows where the speech sags.
Bird identification by call
Record a field or a forest and the app will tell you who is singing. It works offline as well, with the Google Perch model.
"Cat Said" and "Dog Said"
While analyzing a recording for birds, the app also spots a cat or a dog - and, after asking you, playfully "translates": a meow, purring, hissing, growling or barking turns into a phrase. Next to it are the measurements it was derived from: the type of sound, the pitch in hertz, the length and the number of repetitions. There is no such thing as a translation of animal speech, and the app honestly calls this a joke. The recording is then given a "cat" or "dog" tag.
Backups to your Yandex Disk
If you wish, you can turn on backups of recordings and transcripts to your own personal folder. With end-to-end encryption: only you can read the contents, using a recovery code. A dropped connection does not cancel the upload - the app picks up the files that did not go through on its own. Off by default.
